The Caliber 25B in the Breitling Bentley A25362 is an automatic, high-frequency, 38-jewel movement. On the wrist, this is a very large and heavy watch. I'm very surprised that it fit on my wrist, despite its 48mm size. This is a testament to the well-thought-out ergonomics which have resulted in a remarkably comfortable watch to wear. Besides the beefy wrist presence, the real star of the show is the dial. This a very clean and legible dial with a really cool tachymeter scale.

The movement is running strong, keeping good time, and the chronograph resets to zero. The watch has enough links to fit an 8-inch wrist. WHY THIS WATCH

The Breitling Navitimer launched in 1952, was designed for pilots and aviation enthusiasts. Its innovative slide rule bezel enables complex flight-related calculations, making it a groundbreaking aviation tool. Over the decades, the Navitimer has evolved, incorporating self-winding chronograph movements and updated designs while maintaining its status as a revered pilot's instrument and horological icon.

The watch's particular Navitimer comes in a 41mm case, with a gold rotating bezel, and features a black dial, elegantly complemented by luminescent rose gold outlined hour and minute hands. A large red sweeping seconds hand and rose gold applied index hour markers with luminescent tips add to its refined appearance. Three black chronograph subdials are present, including a 30-minute counter at 12 o'clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, and a small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock. A tachymeter scale runs along the outer edge, and a discreet date window is located at the 3 o'clock position, completing the watch's sophisticated design.

This watch is powered by the Breitling Caliber 13, an automatic chronograph movement that is widely used in various Breitling timepieces. The Caliber 13 is based on the reliable and robust Valjoux/ETA 7750 movement, which has been modified and enhanced by Breitling to meet their specifications and high standards. The Breitling Caliber 13 is a self-winding, mechanical movement that features a 42-hour power reserve, a quick-set date function, and a chronograph with 1/4th second, 30-minute, and 12-hour counters. The movement oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz), ensuring precise timekeeping. On the wrist, this watch fits perfectly on my wrist. 41mm is the perfect size for a Navitimer in my opinion. I didn't expect to like the gold bezel, but after wearing it I find it gives the Navitimer just the right amount of bling.

WHY THIS WATCH

Launched in 1995, the Navitmer Montbrillant had a long 16 year run, until it was discontinued in 2011. The watch was named after a narrow street behind the Breitling manufacturing facility. 

The Navitimer Montbrillant was made for those of us who appreciate the classic looks of the Navitimer, but prefer a smaller diameter. This watch is 36.5mm in diameter, (38mm if you include the bezel). 

The rest of the watch is classic Breitling, with the classic slide-rule bezel, and tri-compax subdials at 3/6/9. Inside we have the chronograph Calibre 41, with a date function at 4:30.

WHY THIS WATCH

In 1952, Willy Breitling was approached by the renowned US Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and requested to create a new chronograph for its members. Willy decided to create an innovative wrist-worn instrument that would enable pilots to perform flight calculations, including average speed, distance traveled, fuel consumption, rate of climb or descent, and conversion of miles to kilometers or nautical miles. This gave birth to the first Navitimer. The Breitling Navitimer is one of few chronographs that has remained in production for over 50 years. 

The Navitimer B01 was unveiled in 2014. Breitling introduced it's in-house chronograph movement for this model, the B01. This is a column-wheel chronograph with quick-set date change. 

On the wrist, this is a large watch, clocking in a 46mm in diameter. Breitling is one of the only watches that has found a way to make a dial that is busy but legible. The in-house chronograph movement is a joy to activate, very smooth upon activation.

For nearly two decades, Breitling has been collaborating with luxury car manufacturer, Bentley. In 2021, it was announced that the two brands would be ending their collaboration. It all started in 2002, when Bentley introduced an onboard Breitling Clock inside the cabin of their Continental GT. 

This particular iteration of the partnership, the Bentley Chronograph, features a beefy 47mm case with chronograph and Date complications. This watch is big and heavy and will make it's presence known regardless of the wrist. 

THE LITTLE DETAILS

Watch was purchased in 2006 from an Authorized Breitling Dealer, and is complete, with Box and Papers including Chronometer Certificate and Warranty paper with matching serial number. 

The watch has some wear from normal use, with no deep scratches or gashes. Overall condition is 87-90%. Sides of the case and bezel are pretty clean, and not showing much wear. The watch is mechanically flawless with the movement keeping excellent time, and the chronograph resetting to zero.  The inner RED bezel has some light patina, showing a lighter red color. Crystal has some light wear around the rim, hard to photograph, and only noticeable at certain angles. The watch reference number is A25363/A256B86SPS. This watch comes with enough links for an 7.7 inch wrist. Something Bold 

 

The Avenger series was released by Breitling in 2001. The aim of the Avenger line was to release a bolder, more extreme version of the Chronomat. Since its release in 2001, the Avenger line has provided an option for those collectors looking for a muscular case, with bold and robust styling. True to form, the Avenger carries inside it Breitling's decades old aviation tradition.  

 

3 Timezones!

 

There's a few things that set this Avenger apart from the pack. The first, is that this is truly a travelers watch, with a useful 24 Hour 2nd Timezone hand that is easily adjusted through a turn of the crown. A third Timezone is easy to set as well, with a bi-directional rotating bezel. 

The other thing I'll mention is the size of the watch. This watch has a great diameter to thickness ratio - surprising, given its 300m water resistance.  It's only 12.2mm thick, which is an oddity given most of the Avenger line is 14-16mm thick. The slimness of the case makes this avenger very wearable for long travels. The diameter is 43mm, so you won't forget it's on your wrist. 

Wrist Impressions

This watch fits way different than the big clunky Avenger watches I'm used to. This is way slimmer than what I'm used to for a Breilting. The 2nd Timezone hand is so easy to set, with one pull of the crown. The rest of it is classic Breitling, including the Bracelet, Bezel, and that signature non-slip crown. I can see myself traveling a lot with this watch.

WHY THIS WATCH

Inspiration from the Past

 

In the 1950's diving was starting to become a more popular sport around the world. It was at this time in 1957 that Breitling released the SuperOcean Chronograph, reference 807. The reference 807 was designed for divers who needed a hearty and reliable watch for their underwater explorations. The SuperOcean line was water resistant to 200m, which was huge at the time. They also carried a distinctive style, including triangle shaped hands as well as circular/triangular hour markers. Breitling has carried the inspiration from this model to today, with this 44mm DLC Coated Superocean Chronograph. 

Ceramic At Last with a Great Calibre

 

Unlike older SuperOceans, this one replaces the standard (and very scratchable) aluminum bezel with a hearty, scratch proof Ceramic Bezel. 

Inside this beast we have a Breitling In-House Calibre B20, which has a 70 hour power reserve, bi-directional automatic rotor, quickset date, and hacking seconds. The hacking seconds feature is important as it stops the second hand when you pull the crown, enabling you to set the time to the exact second. You'd be surprised at how many modern manufactured movements don't hack! I'll also mention that this movement is Chronometer rated, which is a certification handed to movements that meet strict timing and functional standards. Breilting has really stepped up it's movements in recent years, and has come a long way from the off-the-shelf ETAs of the past. 

          Wrist Impressions

On the wrist this is a large watch, that wears a touch smaller due to the comfortable Rubber Strap. Blue strap, Blue dial, Blue bezel, aesthetically this is a divers watch. The Ceramic bezel is okay, even though I have seen better executions, it will do the job and be scratch free. I love these mesh style rubber straps, and I love how Breilting has put a micro-adjust into the deployment. I can get the perfect fit every time. This watch is very legible due to the special hour hand. This watch would make a great daily wearer for someone with big wrists.

The watch is still under Breitling Warranty until Mid-2023, all you do have to do is take the electronic warranty card (included) and the watch into Breitling if you have any issues.

The case is showing only very light wear, around 93%-95%. The movement is running strong and keeping excellent time. The Rubber strap was barely worn, almost new. The watch comes with the Outer White Box, Inner Breitling Box, Manuals, Tag, and Warranty Card. Comes on the Rubber Strap with the Factory Breitling Deployment.
